Tonglu A truely inspiring book
This book can be read for spiritual practice, philosophical exploration, or leisure (no offense. this is not to underestimate its value). I have not finished the book yet, but it is truly inspiring based on what I have read.
It engages scriptures from two influential cultural traditions: Christianity and Taoism (aka Daoism). While most of us, myself included, are familiar with only one, the author belongs to the small number of people who are familiar with both. He did an excellent job bringing them into conversations, based on which the universal truth and shared values within the different traditions are unveiled. The author explained that he used Christianity to interpret the Tao, but the other way around is also true. It is a process of mutual illumination, which is not only inspiring for Western readers, but also for Chinese readers who are more familiar with Tao Te Ching.
The book consists of 81 chapters, resembling the Tao Te Ching. The arrangement is based on thematic considerations and is reasonable. besides, it also makes readers' reading less onerous (that's why I said it can be read for leisure). Each chapter includes carefully chosen quotes, well-thought-out interpretations of the Tao, insightful commentaries, and a "next step," including suggestions for further action. This part is brief, of course. It lies more on the readers to carry them out. This structure and its components make it look like a textbook----this is a compliment.
No matter what a reader intends to do, spiritual practice, self-cultivation, or intellectual exploration, they will benefit from this book.

aaron turner A Prayer Answered
Like our brains have the eastern & western hemispheres, combined under the skull to provide the functionality of our bodies, this book “I Am The Way” is a answer to many who have prayed for unity in the world we live in today. By being inspired to write this offering & taking the courageous step to follow through the completion, we are given another tool of compassion that we can use to deepen our understanding of two aspects of the one spirit. What I find so fascinating about this book is the simplicity and compelling straightforwardness in the layout. In the ease of reading, the devotional aspect coupled with the sincerity felt from the author in each chapter, there’s a subtle yet profound power of love that shines from one’s inner person beckoning the call to Be The Change this world is offering Us all to be. Read, I Am The Way, follow & lead.

Jake Barrier Understanding universal spiritual wisdom
The author does a very helpful innovative job of bridging the wisdom of Jesus with the ancient wisdom teachings of Eastern religions. My knowledge of the Tao was minimal, but this creative application of Biblical statements to the Eastern traditions increased my appreciation of the universality of Wisdom and a fresh understanding. My primary background is in Western Christian language, so this exposition of different thought processes brought a freshness to my understanding of the Way of Jesus, as well as appreciation of the wisdom of the Tao.

Ray Pollard An Enlightened Comparison
For those of us who have evolved from a very conservative evangelical background to recognizing that other world religions, primarily those of the Eastern tradition have amazingly more similarities to our Western Christianity that we ever thought possible, this book is a gift. Bob Martin has done a masterful job of putting Eastern Wisdom literature beside our Western tradition in a way that laypeople can easily understand to the point of being not only inspirational but transformative. Chris An inspiring read for anyone who wants to deepen their faith, or those still searching.
The author does a remarkable job in making connections between the Tao Te Ching and historical and modern biblical interpretations in the Christian faith. The shared messages between different faith provides a more profound posture in which to connect with the teachings. For those who may be struggling with their own Christian faith and have found that a religious life that falls short of expectation, this book may provide a new path. In each chapter, the writer provided next steps on how to take the teaching and practically apply them, putting faith into action. I found this both inspiring and comforting.

Bob Martin No Preacher ever explained Jesus' teachings to me so well
In full disclosure, I am the author's wife. Bob started writing this book as a way for us to talk about our beliefs. I grew up as a Southern Baptist Bible literalist, and Bob's spiritual path was very different. He studied under a Taoist Master from the Shaolin temple in China. Bob is a very spiritual person; he wanted me to understand how he thought, and I, of course, wanted him to be saved. So he started taking the text from his sacred writings and putting it into terms from the Bible, which I could understand. Eventually, he reimagined all 81 chapters of the Tao Te Ching. Through the process, he gained much understanding of my belief system and I, of his. Through the process, we grew more closely together. and now share our spiritual lives as well. As I mentioned, I am a dyed-in-the-wool Bible-loving Christian and I love this book.

CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM
If you liked The Da Vinci Code, The Left Behind Series, or The Purpose Driven Life, you’ll love Children of Abraham. Children of Abraham is an exciting, entertaining novel about redemption and the failure to redeem. It asks how we, our nations and the world would change if God made his presence undeniably known.
A host of larger than life characters, each plagued with deep character flaws like pride, greed and hatred, navigate their lives as mysterious messages from God begin to appear in the media. At first the messages are thought to come from a supreme hacker, but, as they continue, a consensus grows that it just might be the Supreme Being. Christians, Catholics, Muslims, and Jews, the Children of Abraham, are all affected by the messages. The cultures differ-yet one universal message emerges that unites them all.

Smile! Childen of Abraham = Sweeping Read!
Yesterday, I started this book, and literally could not put it down. I had to buy it and take it home, knowing I already wanted to share it. (I never purchase new novels -- only non-fiction -- but I have to admit to reading a lot of current popular novelists, like Jeffrey Deaver, Robin Cook, James Patterson, Mary Higgins Clark, from the library.) 'Children Of Abraham' is as well (or better) plotted, populated and paced as products from these best-selling writers. Plus the book is epic in it's geographical sweep, and in the diversity, richness and interplay of it's characters. Most importantly, to me, it weaves several strong storylines into a moral story-- without a hint of ‘preachiness’. And although it involves God, the virtually indirect and nearly invisible way this is handled is completely non-offensive and inclusive, and doesn’t derail attention from the very human characters. In short, it is believable. It could happen tomorrow...
If you find the current crop of nasty violent occult novels less-than-appealing, pick up this unusual, very readable book. Instead of being left with a a vaguely dirty, spooked feeling, you'll be refreshed and uplifted.
It’s hard to comprehend this book has not received more national attention and acclamation, but perhaps the author is a little bit before his time -- 'God' and morality not being a popular mainstream subject. Or maybe he should have been more patient with the aggravating conventional publishing process (perhaps enduring reams of 'rejection letters' before a big break) before deciding to self-publish. Try again, RH!! Swallow your pride (deadly sin-- right?) and shop this book around! Your work deserves the wider audience a top publishing house can reach!

NC Book Lover Wow! Where has R.H. Martin Been Hiding?
After reading Children of Abraham, I wonder where author R.H. Martin has been hiding. This novel is so timely, I can't express it in the space I have here. You'll just have to read the book, and you won't regret it!
Without prejudice, the novel explores various religions through characters we can relate to, and shows us a world where God has decided to prove himself as a matter of fact rather than faith.
I was pulled into the lives of the characters, some who represent the Seven Deadly Sins, and their stuggle to decide whether or not they deserve, or even want Divine redemption. As I read, there were traits in certain characters that were remarkably similar to people I know. This is the mark of a great writer - one whose work keeps me reading late into the night.
At once a mystery, and an crash course in theology, and the human condition, this fast-paced novel literally has something for everyone. While the author doesn't set out to "preach" to his readers, he certainly gave me a lot to think about. As I enjoyed the page-turner mystery set within the novel, I also learned about religious beliefs that are different from my own, and came away with a much more accepting attitude of others who don't see things "my" way.
Isn't that how we, who are all the Children of Abraham, should relate to each other?
This novel is a "slam-dunk success" from an author I was unfamiliar with. I'm sure I will be hearing much, much more about R.H. Martin when this book is inevitably discovered by other savvy readers!

Barb5000 Kept My Interest
Thoroughly enjoyed this book! It kept my interest from the first page to the last. I loved the idea of God sending beautiful messages to all the world’s newscasts on electronic news tickers. I loved the idea that all religions might come together in forgiveness and love. Utopian like thinking I guess?! Could it happen? I recommend that you read the book and find out.
