Meet Bob
Transforming Lives with Mindfulness
Welcome toA Wise and Happy Life!
I’m Bob Martin, the heart and soul behind A Wise and Happy Life. With decades of experience in law, education, and mindfulness, my mission is to guide you towards a happier, more fulfilling life through the power of meditation and mindfulness.
My story is one of profound transformation and dedication to breaking literal and metaphorical chains, spanning a lifetime of service. Currently serving as the Mindfulness Coordinator for Elon University, I am dedicated to liberating minds from limiting narratives and guiding individuals and organizations toward inner peace and potential.
My Journey to Mindfulness
My journey to liberation began in the tumultuous era of the Cocaine Cowboy in Miami, where I worked as a mob lawyer. Spiraling downwards, I found guidance through the mentorship of Hua Ching Ni, a 72nd-generation Taoist Master, embarking on a profound journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening that reshaped my life.
With over four decades as a Criminal Trial Lawyer and as the current Mindfulness Coordinator at Elon University, I’ve dedicated my career to freeing minds from limiting narratives. I’m honored to be recognized in Marquis Who’s Who for my contributions in law, education, and mindfulness..
My Unique Approach to Meditation
I have been a contemplative and meditative arts practitioner for over three decades and as a certified meditation teacher, I blend insights from brain science, Eastern and Western psychology, and spirituality to guide individuals from diverse backgrounds toward greater clarity, resilience, and inner peace. My commitment to spiritual practice is reflected in my embrace of Taoist, Buddhist, and Christian principles, which I integrate into my teaching and advocacy work. I have experience teaching meditation classes online to various individuals, from children with ADHD to corporate executives seeking to decompress.
My unique approach, rooted in Koru Mindfulness, ensures personalized and effective learning experiences. Koru Meditation, which blends mindfulness, meditation, and stress management techniques, has proven particularly effective in helping individuals navigate the challenges of modern life.

In addition to my teaching and coaching work, I am also an author of two insightful books. My first book, "Children of Abraham," published in 2008, is an exciting, entertaining
In addition to my teaching and coaching work, I am also an author of two insightful books. My first book, "Children of Abraham," published in 2008, is an exciting, entertaining novel about redemption and the failure to redeem. It asks how we, our nations and the world would change if God made his presence undeniably known.
My second book, "I Am the Way: Finding the Truth and the Life Through a Biblical Reimagining of the Tao," published in 2023, offers a unique blend of Taoist and Christian philosophies, guiding readers on a path of spiritual growth and enlightenment.
Both works reflect my commitment to bridging diverse spiritual traditions and fostering compassion and harmony.

Personal Philosophy and Core Values
I believe that life can and should be easy, but getting there takes practice and discipline. And that meditation turbocharges all other mechanisms of personal growth.
My core values includes cultivating loving-kindness, compassion, generosity, gratitude, wisdom, and awe…
Every day, I strive to leave something good and worthwhile behind. The question I ask myself every morning is: “Have I done enough?” My commitment is to leave something good and worthwhile in every day because I am trading a day of my life for it, and there are a lot more days behind me than are in front of me.
Success Stories
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping countless individuals transform their lives. From corporate executives to at-risk youth, my students’ success stories are a testament to the power of mindfulness and meditation.
